Mrs Kay has planned a day out
for the Progress Class, a group of kids from a school in a depressed
area of Liverpool who have difficulty reading and writing. All appears
to be going well until the Headteacher sends the officious Miss Briggs
to make sure the kids behave themselves. The play covers the day
when the class stop at a cafe (where the kids nick the sweets), the zoo
(where they nick the animals), Conwy castle, the beach and, finally,
the fair where Miss Briggs' harsh exterior crumbles.
